Are there any French classes other than French available in Grade 11?

many students will take Sociology in French in grade 11 even thought it is a grade 12 credit

World Issues (CGW4U) in French or Challenge and Change in Society (HSB4U) in French. These are grade 12 credits, but can be taken in the Grade 11 year.

Please keep in mind HL math students should be sitting well into the 90%+ range in their Grade 10 math. HL Math is like a first year university math.

What is the difference between EnglishLit and English Language and Lit?

What percentage of students take full IB?

It is best that students connect with their English teacher for specifics. But essentially the Lit has all traditional Literature text, where as Lang & Lit, has the same number of texts studied, but different types of texts, not just literature.

each year we have about 150 grads, about 1/3 or 50 students will do full IB diploma, 50 will take a few IB certificate course, and 50 will take just IB English

Hello Kai, non-Ashbury co-curricualrs can count towards CAS experiences. Students can apply for an exemption each year for the co-curricular requirements for the diploma.

If we choose to do the full IB program will we still be allowed to choose regular Ontario course credits?

All IB courses are aligned with Ministry credits. If there is room in your IB schedule you can take a regular Ministry course as well.

Would IB provide the opportunity to take (or otherwise encompass) the prerequisites listed for engineering?

Yes…Engineering typically requires your maths, physics, and chemistry. This is never an issue for an IB programme.

Yes…HL Math is not necessarily required for Engineering. Of course this is always university dependent and it requires early research. It is not always the same formula for every school, it can be region dependent around the world. Happy to help where needed in sorting this out.

where to check pre-requsit courses?

If you want to major in Science you need to keep your science program requirements in mind. It can be done, but it needs strategizing.

The Senior School Course Calendar is available on the Ashbury website under the student portal that indicates course pre-requisites.

Can foreign students take community service hours in their own country during summer break?

Prerequisite courses (a very Canadian term) is under admissions requirements, or entry requirements is another term often seen on a university admissions page.
