Are the number of hours of co-curricular activities required for the Ashbury diploma being reduced as a result of covid restrictions?

Hello Kerry! The school will recognize the interruptions to co-curriculars last year and this year due to the pandemic.

Does IB global politics part 1 count towards the grade 12 subject with a global view if they don’t do part 2?

Yes Year 1 Global Politics counts towards this requirement.

For the OSSD 40 hours of community service, we highly recommend that you try to have these completed by the end of the summer before you start grade 12 so it is one less thing to worry about. What qualifies as community service has been expanded, including some online opportunities

Do the hours all have to take place in Ontario? Can boarding students do hours over the summer, where their parents reside?

Yes, the hours can be achieved in other countries.

science students need HL English? Why not HL math?

While HL Math might be preferred for some programs, it is not always required.

Can art student take IB Art HL? it is not shown on the form.

It is important to also align HL choices with interests and strengths. Some students do better in getting a stronger Grade in SL Math rather than struggling through Math HL and getting a lower grade in the end.

To assist in the SL versus HL decision, students are reminded to speak directly to their teachers to discuss the differences in expectations. Your current teachers have the best understanding of your suitability to do HL in a specific subject.

Yes IB Art HL is certainly an option (and a great one at that)!
