20:07
Will this be recorded as usual for those who can't join to view later?

20:21
Hello Gordon, yes it is being recorded.

30:16
Are the two online credits for courses that are designed for online or will it also count for any course taken completly online?

31:00
Any online course will count as online.

31:51
Courses are designated online or in-class.

32:35
Do we have a guide for first three characters of the course codes? Thank you

33:28
If I take an online course outside of Ashbury, will it still be counted into my OSSD?

33:39
These are covered in more detail in the Academic Guide as well. The Academic Guide can be found online. You will find out more about where during this presentation.

34:07
Yes, if the course is designated as an online course, it would count on your transcript.

34:36
It must be taken at a Ministry accredited school.

34:42
What other online courses are offered at Ashbury other than the BTT? For example, if my daughter did geography online during the summer, would that count?

34:53
Here is a link to the Academic Guide 2020 https://ashbury.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/2020-Academic-Guide.pdf

36:16
Online courses must be taken at Ministry accredited schools if you are taking a course outside of Ashbury.

36:35
We only have BTT as a fully online course. If the Geography course is offered as a formally designated online course then it would count as well. Currently all of summer courses are being offered face-to-face - we hope. Except the BTT course.

37:16
do the community service hours need to be 10 a year? or could you do 8 one year and 12 the next?

37:55
Hello Jane, yes they can be attained over the four years and do not have to be 10 a year.

38:03
The hours just need to add up to the required hours by the time a student graduates. We encourage community service throughout their years.

38:19
Thank you.

40:22
What is global citizenship? Is it a course?

41:27
Yes, there is a list of courses that would count towards our global studies course. Ie. Grade 12 World Issues, Economics, World History.... amongst more.

42:04
Ok, thank you!

43:18
If Ashbury only has the BTT as an online course, do we have to go to another school to fulfill the other credit for OSSD?

43:25
What languages can you take for the language acquisition?

44:36
Students would take the second online course elsewhere. There are many ministry approved schools that offer online courses.

45:02
IB Language Acquisition courses include multiple levels of French from beginner to Immersion level as well as Spanish beginner to advanced.

45:09
Does a student have to take the accelerated math course in grade 10 in order to take the IB route in grade 11? Thx

46:30
No, students in Grade 10 may take the Grade 10 Math course. In Grade 11, we offer a combined course where a student can take Grade 11 and Grade 12 in one year. They achieve two Math credits in one year and remain on track with IB Math.

49:43
Students can also go into IB Math Applications and Interpretations SL from MPM2D . This is the lowest level of IB Math suitable for university programs that would not require math as a prerequisite.

53:54
Can a student take a course that is part of another school and have it still count towards Ashbury credits / requirements for the summer course?

54:37
If the course is taken at a Ministry approved school, then it will count as a credit.

56:59
Where do we find the course worksheets? Could you share a link? Thanks

57:10
to clarify, I thought BTT was only offered in the summer last year? ultimately I thought you don’t have to have online courses?

57:52
Can a student take a grade 11 course instead of a grade 10 elective?

57:54
Course worksheets are on the Student portal https://ashbury.ca/student/

58:16
who do we send an email to to opt out of 2nd online course again?

58:23
Parent website as well: https://ashbury.ca/parents/

58:53
Can you please clarify what options there are for math next year, and what the requirements are to be able to do extended math?

59:04
Does the school provide the second online course? (not BTT1ON)

59:43
is there any downside to opting out?

59:44
is there a list of summer courses offered at Ashbury and is there an additional cost to take it?

01:00:06
https://summer.ashbury.ca/

01:00:09
The summer school link for the Ashbury course is at https://summer.ashbury.ca

01:04:06
What year can you do IB drama?

01:04:10
For Ashbury online course, can Grade 9 student take Grade 11 IB Bio?

01:04:11
The IB offers Math Applications and Interpretations SL which students can enter from MPM2D. This still counts for an IB Diploma but it is not suitable for a university program requiring a math pre-requisite.

01:04:16
Is it possible to aim for both the bilingual and IB diploma? Thank you.

01:04:35
What percentage of students take the IB option?

01:04:46
Does the 2 Online courses count as part of the 30 Credits required to graduate?

01:04:52
IB Drama begins in Grade 11 as a two year program.

01:04:56
IB Drama would start in Grade 11

01:05:02
are current courses all considered as online?

01:05:09
Students in grade 9 can’t take Grade 11 Biology. Prerequisite courses in Grade 10 Science is required.

01:05:16
It becomes challenging to cover both. Students on an Immersion track take two Lang A courses as a full IB student. This qualifies students automatically for an IB bilingual diploma.

01:05:17
Hello Clara, yes the two courses count in the 30 required.

01:05:54
My daughter took the BTT1ON course last summer, did it count as a online credit?

01:05:55
Hello Yan Fu, the current courses would not be considered online.

01:06:16
Hello Tanuja, yes the BTT course last summer is an online

01:06:16
Half of our current Gr 11 class is taking the full IB program.

01:06:26
Yes, the online courses would count if from a Ministry approved and inspected school.

01:06:27
Are all the accelerated courses other than math removed?

01:06:56
What online courses are available this year?

01:07:07
Thank you

01:07:59
For now, BTT is the online course offered. The intention is to develop more but this was put on hold this year.

01:08:01
Which math (extended or standard) leads you to take an IB math course?

01:08:36
Does IB include world history or only Canadian history as well?

01:08:53
Both of these courses can lead to IB Math. The path would be slightly different.

01:09:23
Do you know when the school schedule will be available for 21/22?

01:09:26
Where is enrich science or English courses?

01:09:53
Accelerated math means that students will earn MCR3U, a grade 11 credit by the end of Grade 10. This means students will move into grade 12 math in grade 11.

01:09:56
Canadian History is taken in Grade 10. IB World History would be taken in Grade 11.

01:10:57
when is the course selection sheet distributed?

01:11:54
The worksheets are already available online. They are available to students now.

01:13:20
Thank you very much!

01:13:39
Course selections open on Feb. 1st and close on March 5th online

01:13:46
